that's my boy...

we just finished praying Maghrib. Ir sat on my lap facing me.

Ir: is this Monday?
me: ya
Ir: tomorrow Tuesday
me: ya
Ir: I will have to go to school
me: ya
Ir: I want a day off
me: a day off? tomorrow is not a holiday
Ir: I don’t want to go to school
me: oh?
Ir: I want to quit school forever...
me: hm... *quite for seconds* okay.
Ir: *starred at me* okay?
me: *nodded* so I can save some money, coz I don’t need to pay for your school and pick-up car.
Ir: *cuddled up on my chest* I don’t want to quit school. I want to go to school
me: ya. that’s my boy. holiday is coming anyway..
Ir: *looked up* holiday?
me: ya. a long holiday
Ir: long? why?
me: because teachers understand, going to school everyday can make students tired and get bored. holidays will make them fresh again and go to school happily.

Ir smiled, looked so happy, and cuddled up again

Ir: ibu, it’s cold. hug me.

so I hugged him, and together we swing forward and backward and forward and backward and for ward and backward…

Ir duduk di pangkuanku, menghadap aku. kami baru selesai sholat Maghrib

Ir: ini hari senin ya
me: iya
Ir: besok selasa
me: iya
Ir: aku harus sekolah
me: iya
Ir: aku pengen libur
me: libur apa? besok ngga libur
Ir: aku pengen bolos
me: oh?
Ir: aku pengen bolos selamanya...
me: hm... *diam sebentar* boleh
Ir: *memandangku* boleh?
me: *mengangguk* jadi ibu berkurang bayar sekolahnya. tidak perlu bayar Mbah Min (mobil jemputan - red)
Ir: *nyungsep di dadaku* aku ngga mau bolos. aku mau sekolah
me: anak keren, kan bentar lagi libur..
Ir: *mendongak* libur?
me: iya. libur panjang

I love the sentiment! And I can just imagine holding your little ones, because I'm thousands of miles away and I get to do the same thing! What an amazing world.

Great story - a mom with common sense! Better to let him choose school, if he will, than to make him feel forced!
