Hospital Love Story
Ketika selesai memandikan, aku bilang, 'sekarang saya mau gantian mandi.' So, I went to the bath room. Took a bath. And cried.
Ngobrol. Tidur. Nonton tivi. I can't do either one.
Sehat Bapak. Sehat. PLEASE!!

The Need
I knew it was too late when I realized that his development was delayed. But I'm glad I've consulted with the doctor and gave him the physiotherapy he needed. When he finally made his first steps on the age of 19 months, I don't want to think it was a miracle. It was his hard work.
Now that he's still not speaking, I know I have to do more, speech therapy.
***
Few weeks ago I heard a neighbor whispered to another one, saying that Dek Aik is an autism child. A whisper that was loud enough for any one around to hear. A whisper that was meant to be heard as a whisper. She said Dek Aik doesn't do eye contact and other bla bla bla. It didn't hurt me at all, really. I just didn't understand why this person had to speak behind me, and did not talk straight to me. Especially when I my self never felt so. Dek Aik looks at my eyes. He listens to me when I talk. If my baby was an autism, I would take and face it, then I would know what I should do. And it is better to find and act earlier.
It wasn't that I was not aware. I mean, after the delayed development we found, I have looked closer to many possibilities. I followed carefully every time @justsilly tweets about autism. She has autism children and a lot to share about it. I also asked the physiotherapist about the possibility if Dek Aik was one. She works with many autism children too and I believe she knows better than I do.
Aku bukannya ngga peduli.
As long as my observation according to Silly's tweets, as just a mother with minimal knowledge about autism, I didn't find any signs Silly mentions. And so did the Physiotherapist. She said it was just a delayed speaking. And what I need to find was why, and do the right thing about it.
In another time I talked to a friend who works with children with special needs, Prima. I told her what my neighbor said about Dek Aik. She looked at Dek Aik and convinced me it wasn't autism. Then she suggested me to come to a clinic for children with special needs she once worked at.
So I went to the clinic and let the therapist see Dek Aik. And listen to what she said. My baby pays good attention. He has good eye contact. The delayed speaking was the following of the delayed motoric development. We are on the line to start the therapy next month. Mean while, it is a good idea to bring Dek Aik to a pre school, just to make him interact to more children of his age.
***
Well, may be Dek Aik didn't pay attention and didn't look to that neighbor of mine's eyes because he thought she doesn't deserve his attention and eye contact. And I don't need to listen to whatever she said, any more.
I always want to know what my baby needs, and try to give the best I can, though my best may not be good enough...

The 'Everything'
He is my hero. My guidance. My teacher. He shows me directions. He is the one who taught me painting. He 's the best story teller. He's my inspiration. The answer to any questions. He's everything that flows in my blood.
It's breaking my heart watching him grow old losing his abilities one by one. Slowly losing sight, hearing, strength. It's cutting my throat hearing him saying, "I just hope that death comes to me before I become totally blind"
I know the time will come though still don't know when. And I hope we still have much time. Coz I'm not ready; and it's killing me; thinking about losing him...
So I'll just pray for his health. And hope he will not totally lose his sight...
I love you, Bapak.

The Fun
I used to think, it is a crime to make children join many courses. Swimming, piano, English lessons. I thought it is children’s right to enjoy their life playing and have fun.
So I promised my self that when I had children, I would not push them too hard or make them do activities that might grab their cheerfulness. But then I found that it is their own desire to join many activities other than school. Ibit enjoys the piano lessons. Together with her brothers Ar and Ir, have fun during the swimming lessons. And now she’s joining Ar and Ir having another fun learning Tae Kwon Do. They choose the activities and we just stand behind them.
I thought it was so mean when parents bring their children to fight and win competitions. Coz it always takes time to prepare them selves before the competitions. It takes energy during the competitions. And it is always exhausting. But then I see that for some children joining a competition is fun, a part of their happiness in live. Ar and Ir may be not, but Ibit is one of them. She some times sighed about how tired she was practicing before a singing competition. But it’s all paid up when she wins. Yes I can see it from the big grin that always shows up in the end. Or even if she doesn’t win, she enjoys performing in front of the audience.
So as I understand this, I try to give what my children need, and want, and enjoy. They can take any course they like. They can go to any competition they want. Just as long as it is a positive, and they enjoy it.

baby and daddy

I always hope there is a strong tie between fathers and sons. as strong as the ties I have built between me and my children, years before I go back to working world. it is sad to find that we spend most of our time working then being with our family. but however, I keep trying to optimize the family time we have.
Dan works six days a week, from 08.00 am to whenever he needs to go home. no, it doesn't mean he can go home any time he wants. it means he can only go home when the work is done, and it can be anytime, late, over the working hours.
I, and my children, some times protest his in-existence. spending more time out there than being with family. he goes out every morning, at the same time my children go to school. he come home at night, often when my children are all already go to bed.
I have made some conditions to make Dan 'have to' interact with the children. for example, I used to give some money to my children every Monday. now I make Dan do it. some times he forgot and just goes to work like that. so my children ask me for the money. and I said, "that's Bapak's part. you ask him."
but with baby Ai', I can not do that. baby Ai' still don't know any thing about money :D
I still want my baby to interact with Dan. so some times I pushed Dan to sit down and put Ai' on his arms. not because I have to do something else, or because I'm tired carrying him. I just want him to be with his father.
well I hope it'll work. and as the baby grows up, I need to find more ways for us to keep connected each other...

PETALS (I hate you but I miss you)
a note from a family reunion, 25-26 december 2009. nothing more 'delicious' than being with our family...
=================
I've often wondered if there's ever been a perfect family / I've always longed for undividedness and sought stability
…...
And I miss you little sis and Little brother / And I hope you realize I'll always love you
And although you're struggling you will recover / And I miss you little sis and little brother
......
But I miss you dandelion
And even love you
=================
Maunya jajal nyanyi sendiri, tapi cari chordnya setengah mati ngga ketemu, dan kalau berkeras nyari sendiri mungkin ga akan ketemu sampai mati. Jadi mendingan dengar langsung dari penyanyi aslinya… PETALS
I wanted to sing it by myself, but i was dying trying to find the chords. I might already be dead if I kept trying. So please enjoy the song from the very own singer.. PETALS
=================
I will not be ashamed to confess that we are not siblings without fights. Nor never been contaminated with jealousy. I wouldn't say we are in a 100% harmony. But that doesn;t mean we do not love each other.
Relationships between siblings feels different, how it was when we were children and now as we have children. Long ago some things seemed so important to fight over, now we laugh at. Long ago some times we thought the existence of siblings some times bothering. Now without them we feel some thing's missing.
Being together become a moment we miss. Then when the time come, we wouldn't give a damn to any differences those made us missunderstand. I don't care if you think I don't educate my children right. I don't care if you can't understand my craziness. I don't care if you some times so stiff. I don't care if you always think you are always right. I don't care if you don't agree with my opinions.
We only have couple days and we will not stain it with things not fun. So I will eat with you though I don't like the menus in the restaurant you chose. I will go to the place you want to go though it will kill me. I will let your children do mess up my car, though after this I will have to work hard cleaning it. I will bury my ego -- for these couple days.
Mari tertawa melihat tingkah anak kita yang polos.
Let us laugh to see our children.
Mari tertawa melihat tingkah kita yang wagu.
Let us laugh to see us behaving silly.
Let us be curious about those pure ones.
And let this moment be precious, also for our parents who have spent years scarifying for us. Let them see they didn't do it for nothing.

I follow behind my kids

this is one of our favorite family activities beside swimming, riding bike to places near by. we could go at least 5km away, and back.
and this is how we usually do it. Dan will lead the way, the kids follow him behind, and I follow them, very behind.
and I believe that's also how we should live our life. I believe that a man as a husband, and a father, should be the leader in a family. and the kids follow him. it doesn't matter if along the way my kids find their own way, as long as it is right and good for everyone, I will let them go that way. I will just follow them behind, or walk beside them, to make sure they won't take the wrong path.

I love my parents

he took me hunting, fishing, play tennis. he taught me drawing and painting. and I believe from him I got my brain.

my mother was so beatiful, and still is. she's not as patient as father but she' always cared about us, her children, I knew. she used to be a singer, a dancer, and a gym atlet. so I know where I got those abilities from.
she is a strong woman, a very strong one. that made me, at least not become a weak girl

2 has become 21
2 sudah menjadi 21
I miss them
aku rindu bapak ibu..
